Set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' continues the team's adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage.
Director: James Gunn

The Buzz: Peter Quill and his expanded superhero family battle new foes and lingering father issues as the Awesome Mixtape #2 re-introduces old favorites as your new summer soundtrack. Looks like it's $1 billion or bust at the worldwide box office, too. James Gunn will return for chapter 3!

The Lovers (2017) - [Limited]
94 min   -   Comedy
72 Metascore
Debra Winger and Tracy Letts play a long-married, dispassionate couple who are both in the midst of serious affairs. But on the brink of calling it quits, a spark between them suddenly reignites, leading them into an impulsive romance.
Director: Azazel Jacobs

The Buzz: One of the more intriguing premises of the season (and easily one of the best trailers as well) finds Azazel Jacobs, who directed the underrated HBO series "Doll & Em," partnering with A24, the hottest indie studio around. And the cast? Superb.

The Dinner (2017) - [Limited]
120 min   -   Drama | Mystery | Thriller
60 Metascore
A look at how far parents will go to protect their children. Feature film based on a novel by Herman Koch.
Director: Oren Moverman

The Buzz: Provocateur Oren Moverman is back behind the camera with his adaptation of Herman Koch's novel, which has sharply divided critics since its debut at the Berlin International Film Festival (where it was nominated for the Golden Bear for Best Film).

11 92 min   -   Drama
47 Metascore
After Ray decides to transition from female to male, Ray's mother, Maggie, must come to terms with the decision while tracking down Ray's biological father to get his legal consent.
Director: Gaby Dellal

The Buzz: Formerly titled About Ray, it seems the title to this transgender drama was changed perhaps to take advantage of Susan Sarandon's "Feud" moment. The updated trailer reveals more of the dynamic between Sarandon, Naomi Watts and Elle Fanning's characters.

Mr. Chibbs (2017) - [Limited]
86 min   -   Documentary
Ten years after retirement from a career as a professional athlete, Kenny Anderson finds that basketball is easy, it's life that's hard. Still reeling from his mother's death, the former New York City high-school prodigy and NBA All-Star loses a cherished coaching position, sending him into a midlife crisis. Facing his personal demons head-on, the charismatic Anderson must come to terms with his past in order to find a way forward.
Director: Jill Campbell

The Buzz: Jill Campbell observes NBA legend Kenny Anderson at a crossroads in his post-hoops life and career. This could be one of those documentaries that catches serious word of mouth.
